A woman died April 4 after she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a barrier along the outer loop of the Baltimore Beltway.
Mellany Jean Dudney, 40, was driving a 2007 Nissan Sentra on Interstate 695 near Frederick Road just before 7 p.m.
Witnesses told Maryland State Police officers that she appeared to be driving recklessly, making several lane changes in the few minutes before the accident.
Dudney apparently lost control of her vehicle and hit a barrier along the left lane of the highway. The car then spun out of control and crossed all lanes of traffic, ending up in the grassy ditch on the right side of the road.
Dudney, a resident of Dundalk, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
There were no passengers in the car, and police say no other vehicles were involved. There is no evidence that alcohol or any other substance abuse was a factor.
