A car accident in Frederick County killed one woman and injured another last month. Details of the fatal Maryland car wreck are below:
One woman died, and another was injured on the evening of Thursday, May 9, in a two-car accident in Jefferson.
According to Maryland State Police, the accident occurred around 6 p.m. when the driver of a 2003 Kia Sorento failed to stop at a stop sign.
Linda M. Weddle, 65, was traveling southbound along Lander Road in the Kia when she neglected to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Point of Rocks.
As she continued through the intersection without stopping, her SUV collided in a T-bone crash with a 2012 Ford Escape that was traveling westbound on Point of Rocks Road.
The driver of the Ford has been identified as Kay A. Brown, 54.
Weddle was transported to Meritus Medical Center by ambulance following the accident. Her current condition is unknown.
Brown was rushed via Maryland State Police Helicopter to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where she later succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
Maryland State Police closed the area surrounding the accident for several hours to conduct a thorough investigation into the Maryland crash. It is unknown if speed was an issue in the accident or why Weddle did not stop at the intersection.
Brown, a native of Maryland, lived in Harpers Ferry and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, George “Tom” Brown, and many other family members and friends.
