In Brandywine, Maryland, Prince George's County police are investigating a fatal accident reputedly involving an off-duty FBI agent that occurred on the night of Monday, February 7, 2011.

According to Cpl. Henry Tippett, a vehicle traveling on North Keys Road near the 10600 block crossed the center line, striking another car in oncoming traffic on the driver's side door.

Lawrence Garner, 18, of the 8700 block of Sheehan Drive, was the driver of the car that was struck. Sadly, Garner was then transported to Southern Maryland Hospital with serious injuries. It was there that he was pronounced dead.

The name of the FBI agent in the vehicle that veered over the line has not yet been released, and police said he also has not been charged.

According to authorities, excessive speed and alcohol are contributing factors in the accident, and the FBI agent is allegedly at fault.

Cpl. Henry Tippett said that information about the accident has been turned over to the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office for further investigation into the incident.
