A motorcycle rider died the evening of Saturday, May 12, 2012 after colliding with a tractor-trailer in Clinton.

Henry Tharps Jr., 51-years-old and a resident of Clinton, was riding in the 8900 block of Woodyard Road around 9:20 p.m. when the accident occurred. 

Prince George’s County Police still are investigating the crash and have not determined yet what the cause was or who was at fault.

Tharps was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured and has not been named.

At this point no charges have been made in the fatal Prince George’s County crash.

Meanwhile, Prince George’s County Police also are looking for more information regarding a fatal hit-and-run accident that took place on Saturday, May 5, 2012 in Lewisdale.

According to local news articles, the driver of a silver SUV struck and killed a man who was walking along the 2400 block of University Boulevard around 9:00 p.m. There were no crosswalks near the area of impact, which is close to the Adelphi Shopping Center.

The pedestrian has been identified as 28-year-old Samuel Diaz, a resident of Hyattsville.

The SUV driver did not stop at the scene of the accident to check on the injured man. By the time police arrived at the scene, Diaz was unresponsive. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

County police are asking anyone with information to call investigators at 301-352-1200. They believe they are looking for a silver SUV with damage to the front end of the vehicle.
