A collision between two trucks in the late morning hours of Thursday, April 28, left one man dead and another injured.

A tractor trailer and a white box truck collided around 11 a.m., according to reports from the Prince George's County Police Department. The accident occurred at the intersection of Virginia Manor Road and Virginia Manor Court in Laurel, Maryland.

There was limited information concerning the details of the accident. Police did say that the driver of the box truck was trapped in his vehicle and emergency personnel on the scene had to cut open the truck to extract him.

A spokesperson for the Prince George's County Police Department said he believed the driver of the box truck was the one killed. The other driver was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police declined to release the names of the drivers involved because their families had not yet been notified.

The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, but police were trying to determine if heavy rainfall at the time of the crash could have been a factor. Police were redirecting traffic shortly after the accident as investigators arrived on the scene to complete a crash reconstruction.
