A multiple-car accident in Prince George’s County killed two people on Thursday, March 7.

Prince George’s County Police arrived at the scene of a serious accident along Allentown Road in Camp Springs.

Arnold Brown, 47 years old, was traveling westbound in the 6900 block of Allentown Road near Westchester Drive shortly before noon when he lost control of his Mitsubishi Galant.

Reports are conflicting as to when exactly his vehicle crossed the double yellow line, but it is apparent that the car crash included a Honda Accord traveling in the same direction as the Mitsubishi as well as a Toyota Camry traveling eastbound.

It appears that Brown first struck the Honda and then careened out of control into oncoming traffic, where his vehicle collided head-on with the Toyota.

Brown, a resident of Suitland, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident from his injuries.

The driver of the Toyota, who was identified as 65-year-old Joyce Alexander of Temple Hills, was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the fire department with the jaws of life. She was rushed by helicopter to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries that included severe head trauma.

The female driver of the Honda has not yet been identified but reportedly did not suffer any serious injuries in the three-car accident.

An initial investigation into the crash shows that speed may have been a factor in the fatal Maryland car accident. According to local news reports, Brown was previously convicted of two charges of speeding in 2011.

We express our sympathy to the families of Mr. Brown and Ms. Alexander during their time of grief.
