A Clinton man died in a Maryland hit-and-run accident on Saturday, August 31. Details of the fatal accident are as follows:

Eric Derron Bridgett, 27 years old and a father of three, died during the early morning hours of August 31 when a car struck him and left the scene while he was trying to cross the street near a restaurant where he worked as a cook.

Bridgett was apparently trying to cross Kirby Street at Marwood Drive, near Joint Base Andrews, when a car hit him, according to a preliminary investigation by the Prince George’s County Police Department. Police discovered Bridgett along the side of the road around 2:30 a.m. and pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident. Police do not believe Bridgett was in a crosswalk when he was hit. The driver of the vehicle did not stop.

Bridgett served two tours in Afghanistan and had been home for about a year when the accident occurred. Bridgett leaves behind his wife, Brandi, and their three children: 5-year-old Aiden, 3-year-old Abigail, and 4-month-old Avi. Brandi referred to her husband as her best friend and said she and Eric had been a couple since 10th grade.

She pleaded for the driver who caused the accident to come clean. Currently, police do not have any description on the car or driver. Anyone who may have information regarding the fatal Maryland car crash is asked to call the police at 301-731-4422.

We express our condolences to Brandi, her children, and the rest of Bridgett’s family and friends.
