A hit-and-run accident followed by a second accident late on the night of Wednesday, July 10 left a man dead in the road, according to the Frederick County Sheriff’s Department. The department is investigating the cause of the fatal car accident, which occurred around 11:40 p.m. in Frederick.

According to an initial police investigation, 32-year-old Levon Duvall Hallenbeck of Frederick was walking along the side of the northbound lanes of Buckeystown Pike when he was hit north of Grove Road. Police believe that the driver of a four-door passenger vehicle, which witnesses to the accident say may have been a Chevrolet Malibu, struck the pedestrian. The driver then fled the scene of the accident, leaving Hallenbeck in the middle of the road.

A second driver coming upon the scene did not see the pedestrian lying in the middle of the road until it was too late. The second driver stayed at the scene of the accident after hitting the pedestrian.

Hallenbeck was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Department is still searching for the initial driver who is guilty of a Maryland hit-and-run accident. Anyone with information about the driver or the vehicle is asked to call Cpl. Colantuno at 301-600-3908.

The Maryland accident lawyers of Nickelsporn and Lundin express their sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Hallenbeck in their time of grief.
