Can a Maryland truck driver be held liable if they don't have a commercial driver's license?

 

A: Absolutely! By law, all commercial truck drivers are required to possess a current, valid commercial driver's license, or CDL.

These licenses prove that the driver has completed the required specialized training to drive a large truck and has passed the tests indicating they are competent while driving such a large vehicle.

There are three different classes of CDLs, each with strict limitations. There are also several endorsements that require additional training for transporting specific cargo, such as passengers or hazardous materials.

If the truck driver who is responsible for your injuries had an expired CDL or the incorrect license endorsements, you have every right to sue them for negligence.
